If being in the general vicinity of the ocean is not good enough and you desire to live close enough to walk to the beach at any time, there are homes and condominiums of every shape and size in the North Fletcher/Tarpon Avenue area of Fernandina Beach. While mostly a residential neighborhood, there are seasonal rentals by private owners along Ocean Avenue (street bordering along the dunes at the ocean).

Ocean Park on TarponThis area north of Main Beach is bordered by the ocean to the east and Ft. Clinch State Park to the north and west. There are a handful of condominiums in the area that can be purchased as retirement homes, seasonal rentals (check your condominium association documents for restrictions) or second homes. Ocean View is a high rise (five story) condominium at the edge of Main Beach featuring large landscaped areas and beautiful pool area just two blocks from the beach.

Fernandina Shores is an older condominium consisting of two story residences. Fernandina Shores has a pool area along with a tennis court and clubhouse for use by residents. Fernandina Shores is also just two blocks from the beach. To access the beach, there are a number of dune walkovers available up and down Ocean Avenue.

In between the condominiums are beachfront homes, beachfront cottages, duplexes and efficiency apartments. All of which are no more than four blocks from the ocean. The area around North Fletcher and Tarpon Avenue provides easy access to both Main Beach as well as a brisk walk or bike ride to downtown Fernandina. In addition, the area is bordered by Ft. Clinch so if Main Beach or downtown Fernandina aren’t on your list, a hike or bike ride through Ft. Clinch could be just the ticket.
